Marquee Hard Drive Joins POPCORN Hour With Their New Media Center

October 18, 2011

MarqueeHD has let it slip that they have been testing one of our top provider’s client, Newshosting, on their media center. Having that sitting in a system along with the SABnzbd client, and you have a pretty good start on your entertainment as far as we’re concerned. Popcorn Hour’s recent release of their upgraded system with more Usenet capability boosted their sales we’re sure. We went and looked at their screen shots of the SABnzbd client running, but they didn’t have any up of the Newshosting client…yet.

Stats And Other Stuff

We’re looking towards Usenet, but the MarqueeHD Media Center has an impressive array of statistics for the hardware end of it.

  • NVIDIA GeForce 8400 video card,
  • Intel Core i3 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz
  • 4GB of ram (upgradable to 16 GB)
  • 2 TB HDD, and a Loop Air mouse.
  • Gigabit Ethernet and b/g/n Wifi
  • 8 USB, SATA ports, video via the HDMI port, the DVI, or VGA
  • Hilcrest Labs The Loop Mouse/Controller, (honestly, looks very cool.)

Software And Other Stuff

And that’s just the hardware. The software package includes Firefox 4.0, Amazon Video and MP3, Hulu Desktop, Boxee, and a lot of others, all on a Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat 64 bit operating system. Of course the installation includes the SABnzbd client, and on their website they are calling it a Usenet newsreader…but rumor has it that it’s the Newshosting client newsreader.

For those of you not familiar with the Newshosting newsreader client, it has advanced features like a built in search, custom filtering, unpacking of your RAR and PAR files, and SSL encryption is available. For more information on the newsreader check out our review of it at Newshosting Newsreader Review.
