New Usenet Indexer Opens in Cooperation with House of Usenet
Last Updated: Jul 18, 2022
Last July 10, 2022, a new Usenet Indexer, SceneNZBs, was launched in cooperation with the well-known Usenet forum, House of Usenet. This news German indexer was opened with around 2,000,000 NZB files available and is said to be hosting similar files with that of House of Usenet.
The announcement of the collaboration with the German-language forum House of Usenet came right at the start. The indexer will subsequently contain all NZBs published on HoU. The HoU team considered automating NZB downloads in response to user queries. For the crew, maintaining both a forum and an indexer would be simply too much work. Therefore, it seemed like a good idea to work closely with a new indexer.
A statement released on the SceneNZBs website declares:
“ Welcome to SceneNZBs!
Today we opened the registration for our new Usenet indexer.
The registration will remain open for the time being. We may change this in the future.
SceneNZBs does not only carry Scene-Releases, but also P2P-Releases.
Please read the rules and follow them:

Even though we are starting with over 2,000,000 releases, this platform is brand new and there will certainly be some teething problems.
We will continuously work on improvements.
At the moment, the focus is on DE releases, but we will expand the EN area in the near future.
As we want to attract members from the German and international area, the menu will remain in English.
Under the menu item “Categories” there are the subcategories “Audio -> Audiobook DE”, “Books - DE”, “Movies - DE” and “TV - DE” for German speaking members.
Of course you can query SceneNZBs through the API interface via an RSS feed (e.g. SABnzbd, NZBGet) or via the well-known *arr programs (Radarr, Sonarr, Prowlarr, etc.). This is only possible with the membership “VIP” and “Premium VIP”.
We wish you a lot of fun with SceneNZBs!”
Similarity to a now defunct Usenet Indexer
In online forum Reddit/r/usenet, a lot of users raised concerns with the similarity of the name SceneNZBs with the now defunct SceneNZB - a Usenet indexer that was in operation from April to October of 2020. SceneNZB formerly had an archive of about 1.4 million entries.
Some Usenet users have raised the idea of the defunct indexer having moved entries to the new German Usenet Indexer, SceneNZBs. However, according to the new indexer they have nothing to do with their predecessor.
