sabnzbd logoIn this category we look at the features, ease of use, security, updates, and the popularity of a client. And in this category SABnzbd stands head and shoulders above the rest of the web based newsreaders. Bug fixes, add-ons, and specials throughout the year are also taken into consideration here.

SABnzbd In The Last Year

The last year has seen a few version releases, bug fixes and patches, but little of major consequence. It is presently in version 0.7.16 and has more than 6.5 million downloads. SABnzbd also enjoys the distinction of being one of the few newsreaders that can run on virtually any OS, including mobile platforms. The client is completely free, and open source. It is a little difficult to configure, but the tutorials ans support that are available are outstanding and make up for this problem. Here are a few highlights of SABnzbd:

  • Open Source – The newsreader is totally free, and very popular.
  • Works on any Operating System – Windows, OSX, Linux, or anything internet capable.
  • Support – Lots of support in the form of tutorials, forums, and even a regular support and development staff.
  • Works on any mobile system.
  • Tutorials – We mentioned these before, but there are more than enough to get even the newest Usenet user started.
  • Integration – SABnzbd will integrate into most any Newsnab website.

SABnzbd In The News

The only developments in the last 12 months from their camp were the version releases. They started the year at version 0.7.11 and have finished it with the latest release being 0.7.16. There were a couple security and other related patches, also.
