VyprVPN Updates
VyprVPN continues to be a successful offering for GoldenFrog ( inspired by and closely linked to Giganews) and is in the process of upgrading their infrastructure to support multiple VPN locations without the united states. Â VyprVPN service is solid, working well and I personally use it all the time.
Giganews continues to differentiate themselves from the competition adding additional cool features such as VyprVPN. If you dont know about VyprVPN then you can read our read of review of VyprVPN.Here is a copy of the news release ( abbreviated version )
VyprVPN’s continued success has resulted in launching a new server location on the East Coast! Â Golden Frog continues to improve the VyprVPN service and all of this is included free with your Giganews Diamond account.
With this upgrade, VyprVPN’s users must change the hostname that they connect with. This hostname change is required and must be completed by May 15, 2010 for continued service.
So we have been notified that we have a few week to update to the new hostnames but before we even start. Let’s take a look and see if VyprVPN is any good. Â You could read our VyprVPN review article for in depth details but here we have do some independant testing of our own.
So here are the results of our independant testing  -  These tests were performed on April 28th 2008

Conclusion on VyprVPN infrastructure
The VyprVPN service is solid - I’m going to let the numbers speak for themselves but I am seeing no noticeable slowdown.
Yes, ping times are a bit slower but this is always the case when you use a VPN and has no affect on download speeds. Â Also as you see its only 100 milliseconds slower for ping times so that is one tenth of a second ! You won’t notice it when clicking around on the Internet and the trade off is that you can browse much more securely with anonymity.
If you are based on the west coast like I am then choose the west coast VPN. The location of the server will affect latency so its always best to choose one closest to you.
The speedtest.net website says Texas and West Virginia but this is an error on the part of speedtest.net. After confirming with Giganews, I can tell you that VyprVPN’s East Coast server is in Washington DC and the West Coast server is in LA, CA.
Anyways, Look how my ping time is reduced from 362 to 158 ms by switching to the West coast server.
Two thumbs up and 5 gold stars for the VyprVPN service.
Run your own tests at speedtest.net but the VyprVPN service is very stable now and if you have signed up for the Giganews Diamond plan then I might recommend using their VPN often.
Again, if you  really want the security that VyprVPN offers  there is no reason to be worried about slowing your Internet connection — just be sure to test out the west coast and the east coast VPN for speed first.  Link – speedtest.net
