Giganews Offers Creative Competition

Giganews is offering subscribers an opportunity to win goodies from the company for advertising the USENET service in creative ways. The competition is very broad in terms of what it allows and, in some cases, the awards are quite generous. For example, one lucky customer in France managed to net a one-year subscription at the Diamond account level, which not only includes USENET access but also includes VPN and file storage space. Entering the competition is easy.

Getting Started

If you are a Giganews member, you can participate in the competition. The competition is designed to encourage people to advertise the Giganews brand name in as creative ways as they can come up with. The winning submissions are shared on the giganews.general newsgroup and on the social media sites that the service uses, according to a blog posted on the Giganews site.

To enter the competition, you merely have to come up with some way of advertising or interacting with the Giganews brand. The winner from France, for example, made a video of himself cruising around Lyons on his bike with the Giganews logo prominently displayed on it. The video was “cool” enough, according to the blog, for the company to offer him the year-long subscription in recognition of his effort.

The Prizes

The prizes include a variety of items. You might end up with a t-shirt, a free account, some additional storage added to your Dump Truck account or a VyperVPN bonus for your effort.

You can produce your ad in any number of media. You can write a song, make a video, take interesting photos or stretch your creative boundaries to their limits and try something else. Winners will be posted on the Giganews blog, as well as on Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Facebook and Facebook. Of course, you’ll also get a mention in the giganews.general newsgroup, this being a USENET service, after all.
