Giganews Increases to 900 Days Retention
When Giganews started out in 2003, they were only able to provide their customers with 30 days of binary retention. They were a young company in a very competitive industry. Since then they have continually increased their retention in an attempt to outdo all the other providers. Their hard work is finally paying off, for both Giganews and their customers.
Giganews announced Monday January 24th, that they had increased their retention levels to over 900 days of retention for binary files. Presently this is the longest retention of any provider, and their almost perfect record for completion gives them and their customers many things to cheer about…Congratulations! This is an admirable achievement, and in such a short time.
Increasing the levels of service to 900+ days of retention isn’t always easy. Anyone could add just a few more disk drives,  but there is more to the system than just a few disks.

The sheer scope of increasing their retention to this level is a massive undertaking, but their people seem to just love the challenge. The increase in the traffic, postings, photos, and a lot of content on the Usenet feed has kept their techs busy.
While many providers have attempted to match their level of retention, both binary and otherwise, none have achieved it.
