Giganews Has Announced Their 1,000 Day Retention Contest Winners.
When Giganews announced that they had broken the 1,000 days barrier, they also announced a contest in which you had to Facebook like them and tweet certain words and follow them. Well, the contest is over, and the winners have been drawn. On their blog they have thanked everyone for their participation and touted their rise to greatness with the record amount of retention they have implemented.
Congratulations To The Winners
We would like to congratulate all the winners of the contest. Especially the winner of the Grand Prize of the Drobo FS – 5 TB external drive, won by Martin in Glasgow England, and the iPad, Playstation, and Xbox being won by Nicolaus in France, Pat in Ridgecrest, Ca, and Pal in Norway, respectively. There were a lot of T-shirt winners and a “Top 10 Salutes†list on their announcement blog.
Why The Contest
Their contest was in celebration of being the first Usenet
provider that was able to offer their customers over 1,000 days of binary retention. Also in the works is their personal secured online storage that they are, presumably, still taking suggestions and feature requests for. They didn’t indicate if they will be using a service that already exists, like other providers have done with Storageninja, or develop their own. Knowing the developers over at Giganews, it will be a great offering from the start.
