Giganews Binary Retention Increases

Today, August 8th 2009, Giganews broke new ground by going beyond 365 days of binary retention for all of their 100,000-plus newsgroups. Visit their homepage to see how many days of binary retention they currently have. The accomplishment – a full year of binary retention across the board – is definitely an industry first. Other USPs (Usenet Service Providers) have been setting the 400 day mark as a goal for binary retention but Giganews is currently in the lead with 366 days as of August 8th, 2009.
Speaking recently with Giganews’ marketing executive Liz Kintzele, she mentioned that big changes are in store for Giganews and that they have two new programs that will be unveiled soon. Meanwhile, it doesn’t look like they are stopping with one year.
CTO Philip Molter has this to say – “Providing 365 days of retention is a triumph for us and for Usenet in general,” “We are absolutely committed to leading the industry, and we’ll continue to innovate and stretch limits so we can give our customers the best possible Usenet experience, “ Molter added.
